Gatesville High senior Jordan Brock punctuated a fine cinder career Saturday night, claiming a silver medal in the UIL Class 4A state meet in Austin. Brock, who medaled for the second year in a row, ran a personal-best and school-record time of 2:14.5 to finish second in the 800 meters. That competitive race went down to the wire with the top three runners finishing less than half a second of each other. Bandera's Sandy Clarkin was first at 2:14.4, while Alana Armstrong of Lorena was third at 2:14.8. Brock's new PR eclipsed the GHS school record of 2:16.2, set by Brock last season. She also qualified in the 400 meters but finished ninth with a time of 59.45. That race was held just 90 minutes after completion of the 800 race. The University of Central Arkansas commit was making her fourth-consecutive appearance at the state meet.
