With a playoff berth already tucked under its belt, Gatesville fell to state-ranked Robinson 6-2 Tuesday night in the regular-season finale for both teams. The No. 3 Rockets broke open a one-run game by scoring three times in the bottom of the fourth. Gatesville, which collected seven hits but left 12 men on base, scored single runs in the fifth and seventh innings. In the fifth, Zach Mueller reached on an error to start the inning and, following a couple of Rocket miscues, scored on a Jared Butler single. The Hornets' score in the seventh came when Chase Mundkowsky (2-3, 1 RBI, 2B) delivered a two-out double to plate Ryan Stovall, who had reached on a walk. Gatesville (8-16 overall) finishes 6-6 in District 17-4A, good enough for fourth place in the seven-team standings. The Hornets will play 18-4A champion Athens in next week's Class 4A bi-district playoffs.
